Nerve Mobilization
Nerve mobilization is a manipulative technique by which neural tissues are moved relative to their surroundings. It is utilized to treat nerves that may be adhered, irritated, or compressed.
The brain, spinal cord, and nerves are continuous and are surrounded by connective tissue, which can develop tension or tightness. This can often contribute to nerve symptoms experienced as radiating pain, numbness, tingling, and/or weakness. Nerve mobilization is a gentle nerve gliding technique to relieve this tension and the associated symptoms.
Examples of conditions that cause or result from abnormal neural tensioning are:
-
Neck or back pain with associated disk buldge (radiculopathy)
-
Sciatica
-
Shoulder pain
-
Elbow pain (tennis elbow)
-
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
-
Foot pain (plantar fasciitis)
-
Any kind of pinched nerve
